Changelog

A new icon, and a choice of icons

• Snipkit has a refreshed icon: a white mark on ink, with an even cut between its two pieces. The menu bar icon has the same cut.
• New: pick the icon Snipkit shows in the Dock and app switcher under Settings → General → Appearance. Choose from Paper, Raspberry, Ocean, Tangerine and Graphite, or keep the default. Finder keeps showing the default icon.

Voice capture

• Fixed: taking a voice capture of a Snipkit window, such as the Library, could quit Snipkit.

Scrolling capture

• Fixed: automatic scrolling capture could stop with “No new content detected” without ever moving the page. On macOS 27 the system screenshot tool can leave an invisible window over the screen, and Snipkit was sending its scrolling there instead of to the page you selected. It now scrolls the page.
• Fixed: the Start button on the scrolling capture bar needed two clicks. One click now starts the capture.

Cards

• Fixed: when Snipkit was hidden, with ⌘H or Hide Others, a card appearing in the corner, such as a break reminder or a new screenshot, brought the whole app back and put the Library in front of what you were using. Snipkit now stays hidden and the card still shows.
• The setting that picks the display for cards is now called “Show cards and notifications on”, since it places break reminders as well as screenshot thumbnails. It’s also in Settings › General, under Notifications.

Several editors at once

• Each image now opens in its own editor window, so you can work on several at once. Opening an image that’s already open brings its editor to the front.
• Open Editor shows the editor you used last, and new editor windows are staggered so they don’t cover each other.
• Fixed: opening another image while the editor was busy was sometimes ignored.

Edit clipboard pictures

• In the Library’s Clipboard section, copied pictures can now be edited: choose Edit from the right-click menu or the details panel.
• The picture joins your Library only when you save an edit, as a new item that keeps the clipboard picture as its original. Closing without edits leaves the Library unchanged.

Dictation

• Dictation now types into Zed, and into web apps that hide their text box from Accessibility, such as Meta’s Muse. It used to say there was no text field selected. Your words also stay on the clipboard, in case they don’t appear.

Keyboard

• Return presses a dialog’s main button and ⌘. presses Cancel, as in Mac alerts.
• Settings… is now in the Snipkit menu and opens with ⌘,.

Capturing without the quick preview

• With Show quick preview turned off, a new capture no longer opens the editor. If Copy captures to the clipboard is on, it is copied and nothing else happens; otherwise the Library opens with it selected.
• This now applies to every kind of capture, including text, colors, scrolling captures and voice captures. Break reminders still appear.
• Fixed: with the quick preview off, captures weren’t copied to the clipboard or saved as files even when those settings were on.

Library

• The details panel stays open, or closed, when you switch to the Clipboard section, and it keeps the same width. Show or hide it there with the details button or ⌘I.
• Space now closes a video’s preview, as it does for images.

Clipboard in the Library

• The Library’s sidebar has a new Clipboard section with your whole clipboard history, kept apart from your library items. Search it, show only text, links, images, files or pinned entries, and see any entry in full beside the grid.
• Copy an entry back to the clipboard, pin it, save it to your Library or delete it from the history, from its details or by right-clicking it. Passwords and keys stay hidden until you reveal them.
• Don’t want it there? Turn off Show in Library in Settings → Clipboard.

Clipboard history

• Drag the edges of the clipboard history window to make it bigger or smaller. It stays centred while you resize it and opens at the size you left it.

Clipboard history

• The clipboard history list now scrolls through your entire history. It used to stop at the 200 most recent entries, so a busy history seemed to end about a week back.

Gallery view

• The Library has a new Gallery view: a wall of your pictures, each shown at its own shape instead of cropped to a square. Switch between Grid and Gallery in the toolbar.
• Drag the size slider or pinch to make the pictures bigger or smaller. The title and source fade in when you hover a picture, and the arrow keys move along and up and down the columns.
• The wall scrolls smoothly and keeps the picture you were looking at in place while you resize the window.

A calmer preview

• Opening an item grows its picture into the preview, and closing shrinks it back. The preview shows the picture on a plain background with its title above it, and arrows at the sides when you hover.
• Zoom is no longer offered for a picture that is already shown at its actual size.

Library

• Press ⌃⌘S to show or hide the sidebar.
• Dropping captures on the Folders heading now makes a new folder for them.
• Fixed the “This cursor belongs to a different search” error that could appear while typing a search.
• Snipkit’s windows no longer stretch past their edges when you scroll to the end.

Rocky import

• Importing from Rocky now brings over all of its clipboard history. If an earlier import left entries behind, importing again finds them.
• Snipkit raises its clipboard history limits to fit the import, and tells you which limits it raised and why any entries were skipped. Excluded apps and expired secrets still stay out.

Eye and movement breaks

• Turn on Settings › General › Breaks, and Snipkit reminds you to rest your eyes every 20 minutes and to stand up and move every hour. You can change how often and for how long.
• When a break is due, a card at the edge of the screen counts it down with a soft chime, then marks it done. Hover it to snooze for 5 minutes, end the break, or pause breaks until tomorrow.
• Only time at the screen counts: breaks wait while the screen is locked or asleep, start over after 5 minutes away, and hold off while you record, capture or speak.
• The menu bar’s Breaks menu says when the next one is and pauses them for an hour or until tomorrow.

Upgrade 1 year to lifetime updates

• If you bought 1 year of updates, License settings now offers an upgrade to lifetime updates for $16.99. Your license key stays the same, and Snipkit shows the change as soon as you come back from checkout.
• During a trial, the two licenses are shown side by side, with their prices and a buy button on each.
• Fixed checkout sometimes failing to open from License settings.
• Deactivate and Clear buttons are now the same size as the buttons beside them.

Current prices in License settings

• The launch prices have ended. License settings now shows the current prices: $7.99 for 1 year of updates and $24.99 for lifetime updates, both one-time payments for two Macs.
• Licenses you already bought are not affected.

Icons in the menu bar menu

• Every item in the Snipkit menu bar menu now has a small icon beside it, so captures, the library, the editor and settings are easier to tell apart at a glance. The capture icons match the ones in Getting Started.
• The icons appear on macOS 27 and later. On macOS 26 the menu stays text only.

Element settings in one line

• Selecting a shape, arrow, number or text in the editor now shows its settings as a single slim bar instead of a tall panel, so it covers far less of your picture.
• Colors are swatches shaped like what they paint: a filled square for fill, a ring for stroke or border, and an “A” for text. Size, thickness, opacity and bend show their value and open a slider when clicked. Duplicate, Bring to front and Delete are icon buttons.

Smoother editing on large screenshots

• Dragging sliders, changing colors and adding numbers no longer stutters on big captures. The library card catches up once you finish an edit, and closing the editor still saves your latest change to it.
• Translucent shapes and blurred areas redraw faster.

Selected drawings

• A selected freehand drawing now shows the dashed selection box, like every other element.

Lower other audio while you speak

• Turn on Settings › Voice › While You Speak › Lower other audio, and music and videos fade to under half their volume while you hold a voice shortcut, for dictation and voice commands. They come back when you let go.
• If you change the volume yourself in the meantime, Snipkit leaves it where you put it.

Search in Settings

• The search button in the Settings title bar, or ⌘F, finds any setting by its name or by what it does, like “mic”, “hotkey” or “duck”. Choosing a result jumps to the setting and highlights it.

Share links

• Copy Share Link turns a screenshot or text into a private link, from the editor, the library or a floating card. Uploads are flattened and stripped of metadata, and the first share asks before anything leaves your Mac.
• Shared in the library sidebar lists everything with a link. Each item’s details can copy, open, renew or stop sharing its link.

Export as JPG

• Export… offers PNG or JPG with a quality slider and remembers your last choice. In the editor it shows an estimated file size.

Choose your highlight color

• Settings › General › Appearance picks the highlight color: match your Mac’s accent color, or choose one of the macOS colors or Lime. Captures, the voice pill, the lasso and the floating cards all use it.
• The voice pill is now black and white, with only its levels in your highlight color.

Library

• Recent groups what came into your library over the last week under Today, Yesterday and each date.
• Last Import in the sidebar shows what your latest import added, and Undo Import moves it to the Trash.
• Import from Rocky brings over Rocky’s library and clipboard history, keeping dates, titles, notes and tags.
• Dropping images on the library dims the grid and shows where they will go.

Notices

• Progress and results now appear in one stack in the corner of each window. They fade on their own, wait while you hover, and can be swiped away.

Fixes

• The floating card’s button icons now look the same size.
• Right after a voice capture, its floating card responds to the pointer at once, and dragging it out no longer blocks other clicks.
• Settings › Shortcuts now also lists the dictation and clipboard history shortcuts.

Import images into your library

• Drop image files or a folder onto the Library, or choose Import, to add existing images alongside your captures.
• Import into All Items, an existing folder, or a new folder. Imported folders keep their subfolders when they fit.
• Supports PNG, JPEG, WebP, TIFF, GIF and BMP. Original files stay untouched.

Fixes

• Right after a voice capture, its floating card now responds to the pointer at once. Hover buttons appear and dragging works, instead of the screen seeming blocked for a couple of seconds.

Folders for your library

• Organize captures with your own folders and one level of subfolders.
• Select several captures and move them together using drag and drop or Move to.
• Move subfolders between parent folders or back to the top level.
• Keep using tags, source apps, and capture types alongside folders. Deleting a folder keeps its captures in All Items.

Improvements and fixes

• Cleaner Library dialogs with consistent button sizes, alignment, and spacing.
• Exports now start on Desktop by default and respect the save folder you choose in Settings.

Dictation and Command Mode

• Hold Fn+Control and speak, and Snipkit types what you said into whatever field you’re in, in any app.
• Select some text, hold Shift+Fn and say what to change, like “make this friendlier”, and Snipkit rewrites the selection.
• Add your own words and replacements, and turn on Smart Polish to tidy up what you said. Everything runs on your Mac with the model you chose in Settings.

Clipboard history

• Press Option+Command+V to search everything you’ve copied, including pictures and files, and paste it back into the app you were in.
• Passwords are masked and expire quickly, password managers are skipped by default, and you can pick more apps to keep out of your history.
• Pictures pasted into a terminal arrive as a file path.

Faster and smoother

• The microphone opens the moment you press the key, and voice results arrive sooner after you let go.
• The voice pill and the waveform are now drawn natively, so they stay smooth while your Mac is busy.
• New capture cards slide in and push the older ones up in one smooth motion. Press Escape while pointing at a card to dismiss it.

Your style, remembered

• New shapes start in the colour you last chose for that kind of shape, so a blue arrow is followed by another blue arrow and a green highlight by another green highlight.
• Numbers and text start at the size and colour you last gave them, whether you set the size in the appearance panel or by dragging a corner.
• Thickness is now remembered for every shape, including freehand drawing and borders.
• Shapes drawn by voice and lasso use the same style. Ask for a colour or size, like “a red circle” or “a bigger number”, and Snipkit uses that instead.

Thinner, sharper annotations

• Arrows, circles, boxes and lines can now be as thin as 1 pixel. Set it with Thickness in the appearance panel, or drag an arrow’s thickness handle.
• Thin lines stay a bright, true colour instead of looking dull.
• New shapes start at the thickness you last chose for that kind of shape, whether you draw them yourself or by voice and lasso. Ask for a specific thickness, like “a thin circle” or “a 2px arrow”, and Snipkit uses that instead.

Sounds

• A softer, more subtle shutter sound when you capture.

A more native look and feel

• A new app icon. On macOS 26 and later it uses Liquid Glass and supports the dark, clear and tinted icon styles.
• Controls, selections and focus rings in every window now use your Mac’s accent colour. Lime green is now used only for capture moments like the voice lasso, the countdown, scanning and a capture landing.
• On macOS 26 and later, the recording controls, the scrolling capture bar, the voice pill and the full-size quick preview use Liquid Glass and follow light or dark mode.
• Icons throughout the app are now the Mac’s own system icons.

Sounds and haptics

• Snipkit now plays subtle sounds: a quiet shutter when you capture, a soft pop when you copy, and chimes when a recording starts and when it’s saved. Your trackpad also taps when a voice lasso locks.
• You can turn them off with Play sounds and haptics in Settings.

Fixes

• The voice pill no longer jumps to the top of the screen when the pointer is on another display.
• On a Mac where macOS doesn’t name the display, for example with no monitor attached, Settings no longer shows a “Settings need attention” banner. The display appears as “Display 1”.

Edits stay editable

• Reopen a saved screenshot and its shapes, arrows and text come back as objects you can move, change or delete.
• New: Beautify puts a screenshot on a background, with padding, rounded corners, a shadow and an optional window frame. You can change or remove it later with Remove.
• Crop is still permanent. Use Revert to Original to get the uncropped picture back.
• Screenshots saved by earlier versions still open as flat pictures.

Updates

• Snipkit checks for updates when it opens and every few hours.
• A waiting update shows a blue dot on the menu bar icon, an Update Available item in its menu, and a dot on Updates in Settings.
• The update alert has Skip This Version and appears at most once a day.
• With automatic downloads on, updates download quietly and the menu offers Restart to Install.
• If your license doesn’t include a newer version, Snipkit says so instead of “You’re up to date”, and Get Updates… in Settings shows how to get it.

A library backup made with 0.3.7 that includes editable edits can’t be restored by Snipkit 0.3.6 or earlier.

A native Mac look

• The library, editor, Settings, capture controls and onboarding now look like Mac apps. They follow your light or dark appearance and your accent colour.
• The library scrolls more smoothly, has Finder-style tags, and saves the details you edit as you type.

Improvements and fixes

• Share a library item with AirDrop, Messages, Mail and more: right-click it and choose Share….
• Move a library item to the Trash with the Delete key or ⌘⌫.
• Copying a recording from the library copies the video file.
• Scrolling capture opens Accessibility settings for you and notices when you grant access.
• Errors are shown in plain language instead of technical messages.
• If a recording action fails, the recording controls say so.
• Edit is unavailable for items in the Trash. Restore an item to edit it.
• The library sidebar no longer shows Inbox, which listed the same items as All Items.
• Onboarding is shorter.

• Scrolling capture works on macOS 26. It scrolled a hidden system window, not the page, and stopped with “No new content detected.”
• On macOS 26, captures no longer list the Dock as the app they came from.

Editor

• Edits save to your library when you close the editor. ⌘S saves them right away.
• Share holds Save to Desktop, Save As…, and AirDrop, Messages, Mail….
• The ⋯ menu holds Discard Changes, Revert to Original, Show in Library, and Move to Trash.

Previews

• The preview’s Save button says where it saves, like Save to Desktop. Screenshots are always kept in your library.
• New setting: Also save screenshots as files keeps a PNG of each new screenshot in your save folder.

Scrolling capture

• Fewer rough joins. Rows that were still loading at the edge of the view come from the next frame instead.
• At the end of the page, the capture checks that it reached the bottom and finishes on its own.
• The dimmed area no longer covers the top of your selection.

Fixes

• Files dragged out of the library, or saved from it, are named after the item.
• A second file with the same name is numbered from 2, like “Screenshot 2.png”.
• Empty Trash also removes the thumbnails of the items it deletes.

• Settings > Privacy & About > Email support starts an email to us and copies a debug report for you to paste in.
• Copy debug report is there too, in one click. Read it before you share it: it can include your instructions and text recognized on screen.

Voice

• Ask for several things at once, like “circle this, label it, and copy it,” and Snipkit does them in order.
• Circle something and name it to get a labeled callout with an arrow.
• “Hide emails,” “hide phone numbers,” or “hide API keys” covers every one on the capture. “Hide this” covers exactly what you selected, with a black box.
• “Copy this to my clipboard” copies the capture as an image.
• “Find,” “search for,” “show me,” or “look up” opens your library already searching.

Library

• Text in your captures is read on your Mac, even on 5K and 6K screenshots, so you can search for words you saw.
• Captures get simple tags like people, animals, and places, from the Mac’s built-in Vision.
• Older captures are read in the background, so they become searchable too.

Improvements and fixes

• A new setup guide shows what you can say and lets you try it.
• Choose the dictation microphone in Settings, with a live level test.
• Windows open on the display you’re using.
• A new listening pill and a clear thinking indicator.
• Trim recordings with a filmstrip, and delete a recording from the recording pill.
• Hold Fn and drag in the editor to select an area.
• Downloading a speech model now also prepares it.

New ways to capture

• Capture a single window from the menu bar, a shortcut, or a voice command.
• Record an area, a window, or the whole screen as an MP4, with optional microphone, system or app audio, and a webcam bubble.
• Check your microphone and camera before you record. Pause, resume, and stop from the controls or by voice.
• Play, trim, mute, and export recordings. Find them in your library with video previews and a Videos filter.

Improvements and fixes

• Simpler Library and recording windows, with controls that are easier to find.
• More reliable scrolling captures, with compact controls and a smoother handoff to the editor.
• App windows and update dialogs now reliably come to the front.
• Local AI helpers now stop if Snipkit quits unexpectedly.

Your captures, recordings, and AI processing stay on your Mac.

Trial and licenses

• Try every feature free for 14 days, including when updating from early access. Your library stays available to view and export after the trial.
• Choose 1 year of updates for $6.99 or lifetime updates for $29.99, one-time payments in USD with tax included, for two Macs. No subscription, and eligible versions are yours to keep.
• Buy, activate, recover a key, and manage your Macs from Settings > License.

Voice

• Simpler voice settings. Recognized commands now run right away, with an optional local-model fallback for anything unmatched.
• Circle commands in the editor respond quickly again.

• Apple Intelligence can now be your thinking model on supported Macs. Gemma is still recommended for Snipkit edits.
• Hosted AI models and remote processing are gone. Captures, audio, recognized text, and AI instructions stay on your Mac.
• Setup explains speech and thinking models more clearly, and shows Ready once a model checks out.
• New users start with only the main voice shortcut. Existing shortcuts are kept, and extra ones can be cleared.
• A simpler Permissions screen that explains what Snipkit connects to for downloads, updates, and licensing.
